I started my career in tech sales about a year ago after going through Higher Levels’ Ascension program, which gave me a foundation in prospecting and what it takes to succeed as an SDR. When I landed offers from MongoDB, Datadog, DocuSign, and CrowdStrike, I ultimately chose Mongo because of the growth opportunities and the technical challenge. Even though Mongo has world-class internal training, I invested in the Accelerator because I knew I also needed guidance on things that are not in a company’s curriculum. I wanted to understand how to plant the seeds for promotion, navigate internal politics, and build the right relationships to progress faster.
What was the most valuable part of the program to you?
The most valuable part was learning to think and operate like an AE before I had the title. I hit my metrics and mastered the basics, but then went further. I created account plans, mapped org charts, and stepped up on a major strategic account when there was AE turnover. That made it clear I could run deals and added real value to the team. The program also helped me understand corporate dynamics and use one-on-ones with managers and leaders to position myself for advancement. Those lessons, combined with the community and live coaching, gave me the edge to stand out.

Do not just rely on internal training and hope someone notices your work. The Accelerator gives you the tools to make your promotion inevitable. Focus on mastering your metrics first, then use the frameworks to upskill, build internal champions, and prove you are already operating at the next level. Getting promoted at MongoDB in 11 months was not easy, but with Higher Levels I had the roadmap and the support to make it happen.
