I'd already changed careers once, from engineering to real estate, and I knew how rough that jump could be. This time I had a mortgage, a car payment, a wife, and we were thinking about kids and about moving to South Carolina. I needed a role that could travel with me and actually pay for the life we wanted, which meant remote. I stumbled onto Eric's YouTube videos, went through YouTube University first, and realized the course laid out the exact process I was missing. I'd landed jobs before through relationships, but I didn't really know LinkedIn or the tech space. The course mapped it out, so I jumped in, and I don't regret it at all.
What was the most valuable part of the program to you?
The process. It gave me a clear system for reaching out, interviewing, and packaging a non-traditional background instead of guessing. I was balancing a full-time field job with two to four hours a day in the car, so I had to be efficient. I started time blocking on my calendar, then took what the course taught on outreach and built my own AI system around it, using n8n, Claude, Notion, and TheirStack to pull job postings, grade them against my resume, and drop the best ones into a board. The Apollo access that comes with the course handled my outreach to hiring managers, so I always knew exactly who to contact each day. That combination is how I landed several first-round interviews with notable companies.

Actually go through the course and listen to it. I've been in the workforce over 10 years, so I figured I already knew how to get a job, and then I started making mistakes, went back to the course, and realized I should've just followed it the first time. Two things that matter most: start with the smaller companies you care less about so you're sharp by the time you interview at the ones you really want, and once you're in the room, prepare your talking points but be yourself and let it flow. Block the time, work backwards from your goals, and just start doing it.
